Any ideas on what to do with Equifax since I AM on the chop list and currently use MPM and EC but AMEX and USAA were IIB so I am not eligible for their products

So, first of all, thanks to everyone here for all of the great information. I'm finding that in my quest to eliminate inquiries, an interesting thing is happening that goes against what's been posted here. That being that usaa and cct are not over-writing each other for purposes of eq b*. Let me explain. I have 4 daily pullers, MPM, USAA, CCT, and EC. I was going to cancel CCT, but I still had a partial month left so I kept it. All 4 were in place and ready to go by my c* date (12/16). So starting 12/17 I had 4 leftover softs (according to eq soft counter) and 14 hards, and I began pulling all 4 daily. Only 3 per day were showing up on my EC soft count, so I thought I was on track to start b* hards on 1/9/11. I did, however, start much sooner. For about 4 days now I've been b*. It started with 64 softs. Now I'm not complaining, but I kind of wanted to know whats going on, so I've been watching for exactly where the b* occurs. Every day I pull MPM first, then USAA, CCT, and EC last because it has a list of softs. For two days in a row now I've dropped a hard inquiry with my USAA pull, and then dropped another with my CCT pull. So my conclusion is that, while they seem to over-write each other on the soft count, I think they are maybe still there separately somehow. Or maybe I just got lucky. Anyways, I'll be inquiry free in a couple of days well ahead of schedule, with plenty of time to spare before c*. I maybe feel an app. or 2 coming on.

If you post your softs from EQ, by copy/pasting from EC, we can figure out what is going on.

interesting thing happened today for me with MPM - it pulled yesterday's report and put it on EQ as such, and under a different name. still counted (according to the auto counter) though...weird.

I've had b* for 4 days now (both softs and hards). For the last 2 days, I have lost a hard when pulling USAA, and then another immediately after when pulling CCT. I'll watch for that again tonight while doing my pulls.

Posted

Reuben, how many hards do you have left?

8 now.

Hmm... I haven't totally thought this through, but I have a wild speculation about what may be happening. Everyone feel free to shoot holes in this and maybe we can get to the bottom of it...

I think that when you are simply building up softs, USAA and CCT will cancel out and only count as 1/day. However it may be that once you are at that magic moment where b* will occur, somehow each does count.

Anyone thoughts?

Remember each soft pull only shows inquiries from the result of the last pull.

IOW, if one pulls USAA then CCT, and notice one hard is gone, it's USAA whot dunnit.

The next pull will show no inquiries bumped because CCT just over-writes USAA.

Same for CCT then USAA sequence.

I could be wrong, but if you pull CS/EC/MPM in between CCT/USAA, then another CS/EC/MPM right after, you'll see that you're not getting 2 softs with CCT/USAA.

I guess what's confusing me is this. Last night after pulling MPM, I had 10 hards on my MPM report. I then pulled USAA, and had 9 hards showing on that report. Next I pulled CCT, 8 hards showing on that report. Then I pulled EC, still 8 hards so it must be bumping a soft. I understand that they are both not showing in my soft count, but the above sequence seems odd if they completely cancel each other out. Anyways, I'll do it again tonight and see what happens. Thanks for the replies.

MPM showed your hards from the day before, while it b* one of them, leaving 10.

USAA showed what was there after the MPM pull, and since MPM b* one, it showed 9. It also b* one, so now there were 8.

CCT showed what was there after the USAA pull, 8.

EC showed what was there after the CCT pull, still 8, and if the hards are still older than oldest soft, it b* one.

Next MPM will show 7 hards if oldest hard was older than oldest soft. If the next oldest hard was still older than oldest soft, 6 hards will appear on next USAA.

I would pull in this sequence CCT, MPM, USAA, EC or USAA, MPM, CCT, EC.

When you pulled USAA, you saw one hard bumped by the previous MPM pull.

When you pulled CCT you saw the hard bumped by USAA.

When you pulled EC, you just saw CCT over-write the USAA soft.

Omg I hate Friday afternoon, I've edited like twice and I keep screwing up the simple arithmetic. Hopefully he will get what I mean anyway, lol!

I see. Makes sense. My only other question is that it doesn't seem as though I have 85 total inq. I'm not complaining, but it bugs me when the numbers don't match up, even if it is in my favor.

Ok so if I sigh up with one service and pull every day for three months, my hard will drop?

I know that the slow way but it still would work?

Sorry guys I am just getting started with this......
