The downside of being better than everyone else is that people tend to assume you're pretentious.

sorry, but I thought a light-hearted thread like this is a way to break things up.

You don't need to crap in this thread. Please drive on.

No...too much HSBC and not enough CU or oddball action.

ANY HSBC is too much HSBC. <_< My goal is to have a Hooters card within a couple months and one other card, not sure which since I can't have Providian, Chase, Cap1, Associates/Citi, or anything GEMB. <_< I'm not sure why but they don't like me anymore.

well hsbc and household can play a role for many people; they gave me cards post BK. But with your rising scores IMHO you need to look toward CUs in the next few months.

OH ok. I am still mad at Amex. Sorry!

me too!

But I love Chase and Citi! I am almost done replacing Amex now.

again, me too!

chase started as a 200 bp store card a year ago and i now 5k starbucks duetto. citi started me 9 months ago w/3.5k dpr and i now have 19k cash returns and my dpr is at 1k (reallocated 9k to cash returns).

Similar here! I started with Chase Visa $1000 and Citi Visa $500. I am interested in the dpr card...

I agree HSBC has been a great stepping stone, but not a CC I'm proud to hold.

In your opinion, what CU should I go after? I'm not currently qualified for a CU, but I am willing to jump thru some hoops.

Oh, dang! I'm NOT diversified. No CUs and no oddballs. :P

LOL. I think you get a pass, although I am surprised you don't want the 2% cashback card from NASA.

well it depends a lot on what derogs, if any, are on your reports. I am a fan of NASA and Patelco, but do a search on CB to see which CU is the best fit for your purposes.

Chase Flexible Rewards Visa 13k

BOA WorldPoints Visa 4.6k *will probably be consolidated...*

BOA WorldPoints Visa 15k

FIA Fidelity Investment Rewards Visa Signature 5k

Wachovia Platinum with Rewards Visa 15k

Citi DPS MC 22.5k

PenFed Visa Platinum Gas Cash Reward Visa 10k *not sure if I'm really approved or not...*

I think I have good amount of credit available considering that my oldest TL is just 2 years old... I have 6-7 closed TL with CL less than 1700. :P

I have a few(~5) collections that are 5 years old now. Everything else has been positive and I will have a new mortgage for about $160k by the end of the month. I'm not sure if I'm ready for a CU just yet. :P

2% with NO CAPS.

first $1000 is 1%

$1001 to $2000 is 1.25%

$2000 + is 2%

(per billing cycle)

plus some of the best terms for consumers out there.

If you land the Penfed and consolidate the BOA.FIA.MBNA products then you have an excellent mix. At some point you could add a couple oddballs, maybe SFB visa or RBS.

if the collections are unpaid, many CUs will balk. IIRC CCCU might be ok though.
