Doc's material is gold -- and by reading and studying it now, you set yourself miles above the newbies who

claim they've read the boards, but for some strange reason still ask the most basic of questions.

2008 is right around the corner. I do ok for having lackluster credit options but it gets tiring after awhile. I also will have my business running yet personal credit seems to be that one thing holding me back (I'll check out the business credit forums once I am done with this). This transcript was enlightening and I'm gaining a little confidence. This might be one of the New Year's resolutions I actually keep. :dntknw:

newbie...just reread for the 3rd time(really tryin to get it)...for the first lesson this is 2 main points that i got for CREDIT 101: The Ethics of Credit Repair:

1) involves TRUTHFUL INTERVENTIONS tactics:

a) polite requests,

<_< requests for information

c) legal demands

2) FCRA compels credit bureaus.

FCBA compels original creditors.

FDCPA compels third party

collectors.

this is trully helpful, thanks!!!

I am completely new here, and I have to just say how much I appreciate these Seminar Transcripts. They are absolutely invaluable to me as I begin to really get into repairing my credit. This site as a whole has been an absolute godsend.

I'm a newbie and greatly appreciate Psych Doc's seminar and the input of the other board members. Very crucial to read/study this info. I started with the bankruptcy section - but came back to this section - understanding of the basics are truly needed in order to build.

Thanks again!

I am trying to fight an original OC...I know they are not governed the same as Collection agencies, thanks to Psychdocs thread and other threads, but I am confused on what I can actually request from them. I have read this online:

What is Debt Validation?

Debt validation can only be applied to a collection agency - not the original creditor. For example, you have a credit card account with Capital One that is in default. You cannot ask Capital One to validate the debt. This is because you have been essentially receiving validation from them already in the form of monthly billing statements. However, you can and should ask any collection agency or ‘law firm’ to validate the debt in writing (that they claim you owe).

But then in the below post it says, "For disputes sent directly to an OC:

"Pursuant to my rights under the Fair Credit Billing Act, please provide documentation regarding every transaction ever associated with this account."

So, I would just like to ask, Can Chase tell me no, if I request this?

Thanks any help. I am just learning before I take my next steps.

My Cliff Notes for this Seminar:

For CRA disputes:

"Provide documentation that the Sears tradeline (account 12345) belongs on my credit report and that my rights have not been abrogated. Otherwise please delete this damaging data."

For CRA disputes for multiple TLs:

"Demonstrate that this material appears correctly on my reports. Request ample documentation from these ____ (# of creditors) alleged creditors. If these items appear in error, I have a cause for action because my rights may have been abrogated in that case."

For disputes sent directly to an OC:

"Pursuant to my rights under the Fair Credit Billing Act, please provide documentation regarding every transaction ever associated with this account."

For disputing Inquiries with the CRAs:

"Please show documentation that the creditor gave evidence of their permissible purpose when requesting access to my report. Otherwise you are bound by federal law to remove this inquiry now.

Youll of course want to put these disputes in your own words and definitely read this thread before disputing with the CRAs as a lot of good info is contained within:

One more THANK YOU to kick off 2009. I'm floored that just reading the transcript of Lesson 1 has been a real eye opener and confidence booster. I feel that I can accomplish some cleaning up on my CR and get my FICO up. I'm truly excited and motivated to read all eight lessons while taking notes - even on the comments. Even the last comment above was helpful to me

I will embrace the CB community.

I just wanted to say that I've read two books rated highly on Amazon, and this series from PhychDoc has been the most practical and helpful aid to actually providing an approach to repairing my credit that I've encountered to date. The organizational structure of triaging the CRs and how to handle each TL is great. The philosophical discussion mixed in gives context and insight not found in other mediums. Love it. This is going to help me - if only to serve as a quality starting point. Kudos!

I've been lurking for quite a while and am finally reading through the PSYCHDOC transcripts. I've been trying to get our credit in order for years and have been pretty much unsuccessful. I can't wait to get started with all of these great tips from the transcripts. Thanks so much for making these available!

Yes, these things are basic, and still relevant. You will find things that have been added over the years, but these basic principles have not changed.
