always initiating calls on speaker phone....so annoying

the salamander on the other side of the wall cannot dial a call without using speakerphone...he's fully able to so thats no excuse. i just wonder what possesses someone to do that. sometime you can even hear the start of the VM then when it's a bill collector or something he will pick up..if it's work related he will leave it on speaker. why why why? pure rudeness, stupidity, moronicness and terribly annoying. and the volume is up so high i bet you could hear the dialing outside the office..again..why? must think he's that important or the walls that are invisble keep the sound in

I use speaker phone to start the calls. But I have my own office. My desk setup is weird (but the only one that works since there is so little room) and the cord tends to tangle. So I don't like to use it. Plus that way, I can keep typing until someone answers or I have to leave a message. I'm usually doing 2-3 things at once.

I had the unfortunate experience of having this hatchet guy with an office in our area. He did the same thing. I'll never forget him talking to his wife on the phone about their infestation in their house. It was rats....

i thought you were gonna said talk about his wife about his latest STD panel that came back..but the rats are interesting too.

 

i guess i'm too damn considerate...no one hears me do anything. no slamming drawers like he does etc ..people have come back and said they didnt even know i was here and i'm so quiet..it's the office joke. .even my phone is low...wish they woudl turn theirs down...and i know the guy literally is mental so ill give him a tiny break..he cannot sit still without humming singing or anything. like when you have your 8 yr old niece over and you just watch her..thats how active he always has to be.

Work recently added a system where we can make calls without ever touching our phone. Outlook is now tied in directly to our phone system. We can click someone's name in email, hit "call," and it initiates a speakerphone dial on the regular phone. When we're done we can hang up with the click of a mouse.

It's making the speakerphone calling a lot more prevalent (and annoying).

I love using speakerphone. If anything, it's to annoy the yahoos on the other side of my cube who refuse to take their personal calls into a private area. If I'm going to hear their calls (they're not using speaker, but they sure are quite audible), they're going to hear mine. I had one complain about it once, but when I explained that it was to drown out her personal calls, she got the hint and started initiating them elsewhere.

i sent that to 2 of my coworkers with no explanation..apparently they had a fight about who i intended to razz...one thought it was the salamander on the other side of my wall...the other thought i meant the guy on the other side of my friends wall (super deep loud voice)

I was hired at the same time as this hot girl, and got assigned temporary cubicles next to each other. She did all on speaker phone.

 

The 2nd day she got from her doctor's office about refilling her medication and mentioned the name. Don't remember it know, but looked it up right away, and it was for herpes!

 

I never told anyone there since I was new, but every time I saw her, I got horrified that the 1st thing I thought when I saw her was "That would be a good shag".

Why not just ask them upfront if they could take their personal calls somewhere more private, rather than using the passive-aggressive approach?
