I have a Cap1 that is at a $750 CL (sadly with an amazing APR below 8%) and a Chase card at 700$ CL.

I obviously will never use these cards, and don't want to waste INQ's CLI-ing them because I don't think I would have any success on either of them. Both companies say neither card is elligible for upgrade... I haven't used either of them in over a year.

Do I just put them in a sock drawer and wait for them to close the account? Or should I still buy a pack of gum every six months.

Oops. Just called Chase. They were finally willing to upgrade to a Chase Freedom card which I accepted.. They stuck at $700 limit though and APR is still 30%

No way!! Chase is so funny. So I decide once they upgrade me to Chase Freedom on this crappy $700 line to do a CLI .. as it is EQ so who cares right? :)

They deny my CLI request and leave card at $700. Keep in mind, I just got approved for a PSECU 20k combo and a NFCU 17k line.

I ask to be transferred to recon.

They bump the line to 10k on recon. I just took a $700 sub prime chase no rewards card to a 10k Chase freedom card. woot woot woot :)

SO happy I started this thread as it prompted me to try calling chase one last time.

So bob - What do I do with Cap1? :P

Does it have an AF? If so close it when the fee comes due.

If not, bequeath it to your heirs along with your socks.

Or, you could just close it and not ever have to worry about it again. ;)

Nice work on the Chase card!

CapOne is hopeless for me. I pester them now and then asking if they are ever going to consider CLI or PC and am always told "no". I hate to close it because it has no annual fee, but as my other accounts continue to age it's getting harder to resist. After fighting so hard to get credit, it's hard to make the call to kick someone to the curb.

Honestly, I am more thrilled about this sub prime Chase card going into Freedom 10k mode than I am about getting the PSECU 20/20 or the NFCU 17k line. I have had a GREAT day because of this news.

Cap1... no AF. I guess I will keep calling every few minutes.

If they soft me enough times they will have to notice all my other lines are exhorbitantly bigger than what they have me at?

You still at 30% APR for Chase?

I don't think CapOne cares about the other limits...they have set limits on their cards depending on what bucket they fall in. I had to wait 4 years for a product change from them.

Funny enough Chase did leave me at 30% APR... they said I could request better but I didn't care to. I will some day. Don't plan on using the card at all... havent' even looked at the rewards but im sure what I already have is better

if you really don't want the card anymore, close the account yourself. I believe if they close it, it shows up on your CR as "closed by credit grantor"... Even though I have no idea if it matters or not, I don't like seeing that on my credit report .. even if they closed it because of non-use.............. how would a future/potential creditor see a notation like that?

I had a capital one card with a $7500 CL .. and 17.9% APR.. but a $60 AF, and no rewards. They wouldn't waive the fee but for 3 months, so I closed the account. Oddly enough I do believe I still have one of their cards since they took over Orchard's portfolio.......... difference with that card is there is no AF and 2% cash back. I don't ask what the CL is.. or interest rate (since I try to PIF).. but does it have annual fee? and what are the rewards? I have a Target Visa with a $7k limit...no AF.. I keep it only for using in Target stores to get the 5% discount. Last summer I got approved for a Discover More card.... no AF and cash back bonus.

lol. Called Cap1 again.

No upgrades available. Soft inquiry CLI denied. She did however offer me to apply for one of their better cards.... I was nice. But not in a million years.
