Hello im new to the forum has anyone out there had a problem getting approved for business cell phones without a deposit and if so how many trades did you have to have reporting on your file before you didnt have a deposit. No one asked for dnb number they only asked for a tax id. My company is less than 6 months old and im trying to go about the right way to established credit for company

att told me that i had a $10k deposit per line but if they came out to my business and it was a store front then they would wave the deposit and i could be approved for up to 5 lines

verizon said $400 per line but they would also consider waving the deposit if i could show 7 months of bank statements

tmobile said $500 per iine

sprint said $250 per line

Welcome to CreditBoards and the Business Credit Forum! We hope that you find what you're looking for here.

Some helpful tips:

  • Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free to reply to your post yourself, with the word "bump" in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
  • If you haven't yet, take a peek at The CB's Newbie Section Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
  • This is also a good place to start for Business Credit Newbies
  • If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the CB's TOS
  • Off -topic posts should go in the fun place known as the CB General Forum

Finally, this thread will explain our position on Solicitations and Advertising

Yeah, i was approved for verizon with 5lines. they only asked for my taxid, verified my company information in 411 and provided them a bill in my business name.

i started my business back in Feb 2010 and just started building my business credit this year, so far havent had to pg anything. these boards are very helpful in building your business credit.

Yes Verizon reports... Cell service isnt that that easy to get approved for. You need some trades and or time in business. Sprint is the easiest then T-Mobile and after that it is a toss up between Verizon and AT&T. I was surprised to see Sprint wanted such a high deposit usually it's around $125 per line.

AT&T is out of control with the deposits they want.. A $1000 is just stupid. You could just a buy the best phone out right and do month to month for less, they need to re think that one. Verizon can be a little funny , $400 is pretty standard for them if you are a new company with a small file but once you have some things reporting you can usually get around that. Both Verizon and AT&T your better off going in store for them because they can help get around any deposit issues.

Although cell service can add up pretty quick I agree that is a little steep. Maybe thats a sign that they can't afford to take any more losses. But at the same time dont want any business? Who knows.

Sprint is not to hard to get and they report to Experian.

But you will have to prove you are business.

They also report to DNB and they literally want some one to answer the phone number you gave them in the business name and that is good enough for them.

I mentioned this in another post but it is pretty important for some one to answer the phone in the business name when ever some one calls during normal business hours. I always tell people get a answering service if you or some one else can't always pick up the phone. A good opition is something like ringcentral where you can have them ring your cell phone or something first for 3 or 4 rings then if you don't pick up it will be sent to the answering service. Their is one company out there that does a pay per phone call answered and only requires a initial $20. So you get 20 answered calls for that then you can add more money at any time. I know from personal experience creditors will call get the answering service and be good after that for verification of the business.

i have Sprint and have had them since December 2011... i am looking to switch carriers and pay the termination fee but i have a couple of questions first....

1) for those of you who verify that Sprint reported for you to DUNS, what was the trade listed under so that i can verify they are in fact reporting for me....

2) does anyone know if T-Mobile reports to anyone and can you verify the same..

I want to switch cell companies but who we go with is heavily dependant upon carriers who have decent service and report as well... but from Sprint it is time to say goodbye... my data connection is the worst

They report under radio communications.. I have heard conflicting if T-Mobile reports but I do believe they do.

Verizon is usually always the best choice for service and reporting. At one point they were reporting to all three and they report quickly.

They pull a blended report of all three but if you have a stronger file you can ask them to just look at that one.

So Radio Communications is what it would be under on DnB... i thought that was an Experian category.... now i think my Sprint account is reporting.. i did a post earlier with a snapshot of my Duns File and that and AT&T landline service are the only two things business credit wise that i have had for an ongoing basis and that could have been reported as last sale within 1 month and started in 2011 and 2012 respectively...... but they are under the PAYMENT DETAILS section and under there are no categories.. one says (004) under paying record and the other says (PPt) under paying record.. no idea what either of these mean.. lol

I've been looking for an answering service, which one is the one you speak of?

If anyone else has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it.

Answer America... It is run by another larger answering service.

Thanks, I thought that might be who you were referring to, I found them during a google search the other night.

Just to expand on this, Sprint is not hard to get, but that doesn't tell the full story. The easy part is the fact that they will call your business phone number, and when you answer, they'll approve you with that along with the fact that you gave them your EIN information. The more difficult part comes after the business credit department checks D&B, and if your file is thin, they will ask you for a deposit. They'll considering waiving the deposit if you submit three months of bank statements.

I think it's important for the members to know the full story when it comes to these situations before going in. It's easy to say you got approved or you can get approved and what not, but leaving out the details and stipulations one may have to meet to receive that approval isn't as helpful as we all would like it to be.

Details always help. And I will confirm you do have to answer the phone when they call or they won't approve you. Can't say for sure about the bank statement thing but I have heard people speak of that before so probably some truth to it.

I have had a corporate account with sprint since business formed as c corp in June 2011. I was incorporated for about 60 days. They called business number to verify, they also asked for business bill with address and 30 day statement with bank account

they approved me 5 lines with no deposit

I can confirm that when I went in-store to verizon (3 months ago) to get business phones that they did want to verify a main business phone number (Landline in my name) that was tied to my business address that I was applying with.

I can also confirm that with Verizon, they were unable to and still approved me and listed my current business number that was with another carrier as my main contact line. I was simply switching carriers.

Just figured I would mention it if you were having trouble with another carrier....
